POSITION SUMMARY:

On a daily basis, candidates will be monitoring the MSC "afloat" network (ships in operation around the world). It is a 24x7 NOC and the "watch standers" will be monitoring network alarms that notify of any problems in the network. When they see a problem, they have a set of instructions on what to do and how to escalate if necessary to Network Engineering team to resolve. Maintains 24x7x365 Communications Guard Support for 80+ MSC Ships Worldwide with over 3000 users, processing general services messages via Defense Messaging System (DMS) and AUTODIN and ensuring quality control of all incoming and   outgoing naval message traffic. 

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Provide training/guidance to watch personnel on troubleshooting system faults, malfunctions, outages, and various ships trouble calls

  • Monitor and troubleshoot NIPRNET, SIPRNET, and CLAN operations

  • Process and ensure quality control of all naval message traffic and emails into and out of our LEGACY systems servicing over 250 clients

  • Assist clients in resolving internet browsing problems, Outlook Web Access, POP 3 configurations, LDAP, and various CLAN issues

  • Provide notification to ANOC and MSC management personnel of any outages and situations that cannot immediately be resolved by the watch standing team

  • Support Next Generation Wideband (NGW) Satellite system which provides internet, e-mail, and phone service to over 80 MSC ships and units

  • Coordinate troubleshooting efforts with Inmarsat Network Operation Center to diagnose and resolve ships NGW related connectivity issues

  • Monitor queues on server 2003/2008 server and 2003 routing group connectors

  • Other duties as assigned

  • Working 24/7 work environment, must be open to shift schedules, including weekends and/or holidays.

EXPERIENCE AND CREDENTIALS:

  • The ideal candidate will currently hold an Associate’s degree

  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in an IT Network/Analyst field.

  • Must have excellent written and verbal English communication skills.

  • Good organizational skills and attention to detail.

  • Will be required to undergo and pass applicable background checks.
  • In accordance with DoD 8570.01 and DoDD 8140.01 “Cyberspace Workforce Management” ; Candidate must meet the Information Assurance Technician (IAT) Level II requirements  by having one of the following certifications: GSEC, Security+ CE, SSCP,  CCNA-Sec, Cissp, Cisa, CASP, GCIH, GSEC, or GCED)
