Candidate will help deliver a turnkey Non-secure Internet Protocol Router Network (NIPRNet) Unified Data Center infrastructure using a highly scalable and redundant design while reducing costs and overall data center footprint. The new data center infrastructure will utilize latest unified, converged, and virtualization technologies available and provide greater mission agility. Information Technology (IT) personnel will be enabled to easily monitor and manage the complete data center environment while alleviating common IT tasks by providing seamless self-help service options for other administrators on the 45 SW network enterprise.

The solution builds on the Phase I converged wire-rate Layer 2 and Layer 3 switching with 10 Gigabit Ethernet, Fiber Channel, and FCoE capabilities at the core of the new data center switching environment. The new storage platform will provide unified block, file, and object storage as well as simplified disaster recovery and operational recovery with continuous data protection for recovery to any point in time.

Solution must be a high-performing unified storage platform that is simple, efficient, optimized for virtual applications, and characterized by the highest levels of protection, compliance, and ease of management.  Phase III addresses the necessary backup storage components to support the new consolidated data center. The solution builds on the Phase II unified storage platform. The new backup storage platform will provide a backup storage platform capable of archiving petabytes of deduplicated (intelligent compression or single-instance storage) information. This is a Follow-on Phase combined with the appropriate backup software solution should provide fast, efficient backup and recovery through a complete software and hardware solution


  1. Install and configure PowerPath on all physical ESXi hosts
    • Install PowerPath software
    • Verify proper pathing
  2. Repurpose existing EMC DD670 and Avamar node for additional backup capacity
    • Move existing DD670 and Avamar Storage Node
    • Configure DD670 and Avamar Storage Node for additional backup capacity
  3. vCenter server
    • Build additional vCenter Server.
    • License server and configure resources


  1. Assistance with migrating physical servers to new virtual environment:
    • Must have file-migration API to enable information lifecycle management via transparent, automated, policy-based file tiering
    • Must have thin provisioning to allow physical allocation of just the storage that is needed within a defined virtual file system or LUN.
    • Must provide management control of SNMP, email, and phone home notification.
    • Must be able to provide additional connectivity to meet existing or future needs for front end port counts and future technologies.
    • Must be able to monitor and control performance of mission critical applications.
    • must provide Native Fibre Channel, FCoE, and 10GbE connectivity
    • Must allow independent protocol scaling.
    • Must provide multiple levels of access control including role-based security and auditing capability.
    • Must allow separation of client and administrative access
    • Must provide data encryption support for high security block data.
    • Replication should support advanced replication topologies
    • Should provide for ease of managing a tiered storage solution
    • Candidate should provide fine grained replication for improved bandwidth efficiency
    • Must provide independent NAS and SAN connectivity to prevent a NAS problem from affecting SAN functionality and performance and to prevent a SAN problem from affecting NAS functionality and performance
    • Must provide the ability for the standby file serving server to assume the complete file system configuration and network identity of the file serving server, providing service without performance degradation
    • Must provide simplified disaster recovery and operational recovery with continuous remote replication data protection for recovery to any point in time
  2. Repurposing decommissioned backup equipment for additional DR capacity
  3. Add PowerPath per EMC performance recommendations


  • Will be required to undergo and pass applicable background checks.
    • Electromagnetic compatibility (EMC) engineer certified at minimum EMC Technical Architect,
    • Cisco engineer at minimum Cisco Certified Internetwork Expert (CCIE),
    • VMWare engineer be at minimum VMware Certified Professional (VCP)
  • Must be a United States Citizen to support this government contract, possess and maintain a current SECRET level security clearance.
  • Must have excellent written and verbal English communication skills.
  • Good organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Will be required to undergo and pass applicable background checks.

  • In accordance with DoD 8570.01 and DoDD 8140.01 “Cyberspace Workforce Management” ; Candidate must meet the Information Assurance Technician (IAT) Level II requirements  by having one of the following certifications: GSEC, Security+ CE, SSCP,  CCNA-Sec, Cissp, Cisa, CASP, GCIH, GSEC, or GCED)
