Overview: MILVETS is currently seeking a full-time, skilled Network and Computer Systems Administrator, with Top Secret clearance to provide comprehensive IT support for Naval Shipyard operations.  The ideal candidate will ensure the reliability, security, and availability of critical systems, supporting both Windows and Linux environments in a highly regulated, mission-critical setting.  This role requires strong technical expertise, cybersecurity knowledge, and the ability to maintain operational continuity across shipyard operations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Administer and maintain Windows and Linux servers in enterprise and mission-critical environments.
  • Manage Active Directory, Group Policy, DNS, DHCP, and enterprise user accounts.
  • Deploy, configure, and manage virtualized environments using VMware or Hyper-V.
  • Implement system hardening and compliance per DoD STIGs and IA controls.
  • Conduct patch management, system monitoring, and automated updates (WSUS, SCCM).
  • Support storage solutions, backup/recovery processes, and disaster recovery planning.
  • Manage accounts, permissions, and access for shipyard personnel across classified and unclassified networks.
  • Troubleshoot hardware/software issues and ensure high availability of IT services.
  • Support enterprise Navy/DoD systems, including NMCI/NGEN and Navy ERP.
  • Conduct vulnerability scans, analyze results, and implement remediations per RMF/NIST 800-53 standards.
  • Assist in incident response and system security investigations.
  • Maintain accurate documentation of system configurations, baselines, and standard operating procedures (SOPs).

Technical Expertise

  • Proficiency in Windows and Linux operating systems.
  • Experience with Active Directory, Group Policy, DNS, DHCP, and enterprise user account management.
  • Skilled in virtualization technologies (VMware, Hyper-V) and system deployment/imaging tools.
  • Knowledge of DoD STIGs, system hardening, and IA controls.
  • Familiarity with patch management, system monitoring, and automated update solutions.
  • Experience with storage systems, backup/recovery, and disaster recovery planning.
  • Understanding of Navy/DoD enterprise systems (NMCI/NGEN, Navy ERP, or equivalents).

Cybersecurity & Compliance

  • Working knowledge of DoD RMF, NIST 800-53, and DISA STIG compliance.
  • Ability to conduct system vulnerability scans, analyze findings, and implement remediations.
  • Experience with multi-factor authentication, role-based access controls, and audit logging.
  • Familiarity with incident response procedures and system security investigations.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, IT, or a related field.
  • Experience administering Windows and Linux servers in enterprise or mission-critical environments.
  • Hands-on experience with Active Directory, virtualization, and enterprise IT support.
  • Familiarity with DoD IT security standards, STIGs, and system hardening.
  • CCNA and Network + Certification. CWNA is a plus but not required
