Position Summary: MILVETS is seeking an experienced IT Network Administrator.

Responsibilities:

  • Perform network operations, maintenance, administration, and provide network management services for Non-Secure Internet Protocol Router Network (NIPRNet) and Secure Internet Protocol Router Network (SIPRNet).
  • Perform administrative, technical, and maintenance services for hardware (including routers, switches, and servers), software, systems, and programs.
  • Monitor daily performance of systems and analyze root causes or system improvement opportunities.
  • Monitor/respond to System Events/Alerts/Logs (for incident response, troubleshooting, and archival).
  • Monitor Network Performance (Node/Interface/Processor/Memory/Volume Status).
  • Perform preventative maintenance: Analyze and troubleshoot computer and network system health and status to identify potential problems and develop solutions before outages occur, using diagnostic tools.
  • Ensure technical documents are maintained to meet project requirements.
  • Monitor the system to ensure efficient utilization and allocation of network and computer resources and facilities to maintain satisfactory response to customers using the network.
  • Analyze network capabilities to ensure resolution of all network incidents and immediate recovery of the network.
  • Provide Network Support services, exercising discretion and independent judgement when events or incidents occur to ensure corrective actions are captured and incidents resolved in an expedient manner.
  • Configure, install, test, and monitor circuits, associated data lines, and equipment.
  • Provide technical support, remote diagnostics, maintenance, and installation of equipment.
  • Provide cable maintenance to include cable installation, fiber replacement, reconfigurations, testing, troubleshooting, and management.
  • Implement physical connections on frames, patch panels, cabling, and equipment.
  • Supports critical operations during standard and occasionally non-standard working hours (including availability to support rotating shifts supporting a mission that requires 24/7 coverage).
  • Ability to travel 10%.

Experience:   
Minimum of 8 years of experience in Network Administration (advanced education can be substituted for less years of experience…see Relevant Education section below).
Familiarity with Linux-based and Windows-based OS.
Hands-on knowledge of routing, switching, access-lists, and IP subnetting.
Experience applying Security Technical Implementation Guidance (STIG) configurations to network devices.
Experience in implementing essential functional configurations to network devices (e.g., routing, port, timing, logging, and management).
Proficiency in MS Office (Excel, Word, & PowerPoint).
Experience implementing and managing network cable.

Preferred Experience:

Experience supporting DoD operations and circuit actions.
Experience implementing and maintaining network cabling.
Experience in Juniper/Palo Alto.
Experience in configuring VLANs with VMware 6x or later.

Relevant Education:

2-year Post-Secondary/Associates degree in relevant field AND eight (8) years of relevant experience;

OR

4-year Bachelor's degree in a relevant field AND at least four (4) years of relevant experience;

OR

Graduate degree in a relevant field and at least two (2) years of relevant experience


Qualifications: Active DoD Top Secret security clearance with current SCI.
