The Combat Air Forces Distributed Training Center (CAF DTC) is seeking a Computer Systems Analyst / Systems Administrator to maintain and troubleshoot computer systems for the Distributed Training Center (DTC) located at Langley AFB, VA.
The Cyber System Administrator will operate and maintain systems at the DTC. He/she will utilize the Distributed Mission Operations Network (DMON) and DTC computers to support distributed simulation efforts. General duties will include: operating system & software configuration, system imaging, networking, documentation, and some general engineering efforts. He/she will be an active participant in improving defined processes, developing & documenting new processes and monitoring multiple systems during Distributed Mission Operations (DMO) training events.
In addition, he/she will maintain the smooth operation of multi-user computer systems, coordinate with network administrators, interact with various users, evaluate vendor products, make recommendations to purchase hardware/software, coordinate the installation of hardware/software and provide backup recovery. Ancillary duties may include: setting up administrator and service accounts, maintaining system documentation, tuning system performance, installing system wide software and allocating mass storage space.

Primary responsibilities:
- Monitoring, controlling and isolating problems in a data communications network
- Activating and deactivating local DTC computer systems according to scheduled events
- Providing first and/or second-level problem determination and provide needed support
- Configure and support video teleconferencing between network participants
- Recording problems, develop trouble tickets, support System Problem Report analysis, and support LAN/WAN system tests
- Adhering to strict Information Systems security guidelines in all cases.
- Analyzing internal and external customer requirements to determine appropriate hardware and software requirements for solutions to problems; often leveraging automated tools/systems.
- Communicating effectively, at all levels of the organization, with internal and external customers, in written and verbal format.
- Creating and maintaining user and computer accounts and modifying file permissions and security access lists in a Microsoft Active Directory environment.
- Developing and documenting technical processes and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) as needed.
- Interacting, meeting, discussing, and troubleshooting issues with vendors and evaluating vendor products, services, and suggestions.
- Maintaining smooth operation of multi-user computer systems, including coordination with network, software, and system engineers, PC desktop technicians, project managers, end users, customer, and IT management.
- Making recommendations to purchase hardware, software, and system components.
- Performing as a Systems Administrator for a hybrid classified environment (i.e., Windows and Linux).
- Preparing security documentation for input to the ISSO and/or IA Team.
- Configuring and/or Managing backup and recovery services, Managing file systems and disk space, and Managing virus protection on a routine basis.
- Recommending and/or Implementing system enhancements that will improve the performance and reliability of the system including installing, upgrading/patching, monitoring, problem resolution, and configuration management.
- Reporting project status as required, to all stakeholders, for all recurring and non-recurring efforts.
- Supporting multiple networks while ensuring necessary administration tasks are completed in a timely manner.
- Testing new releases of products to ensure compatibility and minimize user impact.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Associate's degree and 5 years of experience, or Bachelor’s degree and 2 years of experience, or Master's degree and zero years of experience; a High School diploma or equivalent with 7 years of experience may be considered in lieu of a completed degree.
- Must possess or be able to obtain DoD 8570 Certification for IAT Level II or higher within six (6) months of starting
- US Citizenship is required for this position as well as an active or current DoD Secret security clearance; maintaining the required security clearance will be a condition of continued employment.
- The ability to obtain a Special Access Program (SAP/SAR) clearance after hiring; maintaining said SAP/SAR clearance will be a condition of continued employment.
- Current Security+ CE, CISSP, CASP, or similar certification, or the ability to acquire certification within 6 months of hire date; maintaining the required certification will be a condition of continued employment.
- Experience managing Windows Server OS and domain architecture.
- Proven ability to work under minimal direction and independently determine and develop approach to solutions.
- Active DoD Secret Security Clearance
- Ability to work occasional shift work
- Prior administration of virtualization environments using technologies such as ESX, storage provisioning and networking of virtual systems
- Experience configuring, administering and maintaining computer systems (Such as: Windows 10, Server 2012R2, Server 2016, Active Directory, RedHat Enterprise Linux)
- Experience writing standard operating procedure documentation and developing system cold-start documentation
- Experience maintaining and operating virtual environments for servers and workstations
- Experience configuring, administering, and maintaining patch deployment and management systems and providing patch management status reporting to management
- Experience configuring, monitoring, maintaining, and administering computer backup and recovery solutions and providing recovery status reporting to management
- Experience writing scripts (e.g. Batch, Bash, PowerShell, Python) to automate routine tasks
- Experience with Windows OS, DIS/HLA Protocol
- Basic networking experience / CCNA certification
