The lack of communication reinforces self-doubt. Applying for a new role takes courage, and it's hard to muster that courage when—more often than not—your only reward is silence.

Our hiring process is different at MILVETS. We want you to know that when you apply for a role, we will review your resume and application, and you are going to hear back from us, even if we don't seem like a good fit. In fact, throughout the process we strive to make sure you never go more than seven days without hearing from us.

To be completely transparent, here's what happens when you apply for a position at MILVETS.

Applying:

When you apply for a role at MILVETS, the application goes into our application tracking software. Here, a hiring team of two to four people—people you will work closely with if you are hired for this role—will review your application.

Evaluation:

The application is then evaluated by our recruiting team based on evidence that demonstrates you have the relevant skills for the job. We also evaluate each applicant's writing and communication skills, along with their knowledge of MILVETS as a company. We realize that no candidate is flawless, so we look for candidates who excel in one or two skills, and then build teams around these people to supplement where teammates aren't as strong.

Job Fit Interview:

Once we have reviewed the initial batch of applicants, the top five to ten applicants will have a conversation about the role with the recruiting team. Here you'll be asked questions that dig into your relevant experience for this role, and you'll have a chance to evaluate whether or not MILVETS matches up with the values you want to have in an employer. If you don't make it to this step, you'll hear back from us letting you know we're passing over your application for this role.

Skills Interview:

After talking with the recruiting team, you'll go through a skills interview with the hiring manager. This is a practical evaluation to see if you have the relevant skills to succeed in the role. You won't be evaluated on skills that don't matter. If you don't make it to this step, you'll hear back from us letting you know we're passing over your application for this role. For some positions, we'll also evaluate relevant skills by administering a short exercise done outside of the interview.

Final Decision:

After the skills interview, we evaluate each candidate who made it to the skills interview, and the hiring team makes a decision. If multiple candidates meet our hiring bar, we'll select the best candidate and ask for references. If no candidates meet the hiring bar, we then solicit more candidates and repeat at step two.

Reference Checks:

During the reference check, we reach out to the references you provided to get a better idea of what it's like to work with you. Lastly, we promise that we will never reach out to your existing employer without your permission.

Offer:

Once references are complete, we'll make an offer to you including details about salary, benefits and other relevant compensation details. Hopefully you'll accept the offer and we can start working out a start date and onboarding plan.

At each point in this process, we promise not to go silent on you. We strive to never go more than seven days without letting you know the status of your application.

Position Summary

MILVETS Systems Technology, Inc. is seeking an experienced Parts/Materials Supervisor to oversee warehouse operations, inventory control, material distribution, and logistics for the Brooklyn VA Electronic Health Record Modernization (EHRM) Infrastructure Upgrades Project.

This position is responsible for receiving, storing, tracking, issuing, and maintaining accountability for construction materials, tools, equipment, and supplies supporting electrical, telecommunications, fiber-optic, security, and technology infrastructure work within an active Department of Veterans Affairs medical facility.

The ideal candidate is highly organized, safety-focused, experienced in construction logistics, and capable of supporting multiple crews while maintaining accurate inventory records in a fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities

Supervise daily warehouse and material-control operations.
Receive, inspect, document, and verify incoming materials and equipment.
Maintain accurate inventory using inventory management software, spreadsheets, or barcode systems.
Organize warehouse, laydown yards, storage containers, and staging areas.
Pull, stage, issue, and deliver materials to field crews based on project schedules.
Track material usage, returns, transfers, warranties, and vendor credits.
Maintain accountability for tools, equipment, testing instruments, and rental equipment.
Coordinate deliveries with vendors, subcontractors, and project personnel.
Perform inventory counts and reconcile discrepancies.
Supervise warehouse personnel, material handlers, and equipment operators.
Maintain a clean, organized, and safe warehouse environment.
Prepare inventory reports, receiving logs, and material documentation.
Support project scheduling by ensuring materials are available when needed.
Enforce OSHA safety standards and company policies.

Required Qualifications

OSHA 10-Hour Construction Safety Certification (Required)
Current Forklift Operator Certification
Current Manlift or Aerial Lift Certification
Valid driver's license with acceptable driving record
Experience in warehouse operations, construction logistics, inventory control, or material management
Experience receiving, tracking, issuing, and reconciling construction materials
Ability to read purchase orders, packing slips, bills of lading, and material lists
Experience operating forklifts, pallet jacks, manlifts, and other material-handling equipment
Basic computer skills including Microsoft Office and spreadsheets
Strong organizational, communication, and time-management skills
Ability to pass federal background screening for work at a VA medical facility

Preferred Qualifications

5–10 years of warehouse, logistics, or material management experience
Construction warehouse or jobsite logistics experience
Experience supporting electrical, telecommunications, fiber-optic, security, or technology infrastructure projects
Experience using inventory management or warehouse management software
Previous Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) or federal construction project experience
Familiarity with construction drawings, bills of material, and project schedules
First Aid/CPR certification
Commercial driving or box truck experience is a plus
