Certifications Required: Current CompTIA Security+ certification (DoD 8570 compliant or agency equivalent).

Overview: MILVETS is currently seeking a motivated Cybersecurity Analyst to join our team in supporting mission-critical IT and cybersecurity operations. The ideal candidate will have strong experience in cybersecurity metrics analysis, incident response, risk mitigation, and vulnerability management.  This role requires an individual with expert knowledge of cybersecurity concepts, policies, and regulations applicable to DoD and Navy environments.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct cybersecurity analysis in support of mission-critical systems.
  • Perform system and network vulnerability assessments and risk mitigation analysis.
  • Develop and maintain contingency plans to ensure operational continuity.
  • Execute Security Test and Evaluation (ST&E) activities.
  • Manage firewall policies, ports, and protocols to ensure system security.
  • Oversee day-to-day Vulnerability Remediation Asset Management (VRAM) activities.
  • Enter and maintain system baseline configurations in VRAM, including uploading vulnerability scans.
  • Utilize cybersecurity applications such as ACAS, HBSS, MDE, MDI, and Splunk.
  • Maintain expert-level knowledge of institutional cybersecurity procedures, systems, and processes.
  • Ensure compliance with applicable federal, DoD, and Navy cybersecurity laws, directives, and guidance.

Technical Expertise:

  • Strong understanding of CS/INFOSEC concepts and requirements.
  • Proficiency in risk assessment, mitigation strategies, and contingency planning.
  • Expertise in vulnerability scanning, remediation, and baseline configuration management.
  • Familiarity with cybersecurity tools and monitoring applications (e.g., ACAS, HBSS, MDE, MDI, Splunk).
  • In-depth knowledge of DoD and Navy cybersecurity policies, including FISMA, DoDD 8100.02, DoDI 8500.01, DoDI 8520, DoDI 8530, DoDI 8531, SECNAV 5239, OPNAV 5239 Series, NIST SP 800 series, and OPNAVINST N9210.3.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in IT, Computer Science, Cybersecurity, or related discipline, or Level II Certification (Security+ or higher).
  • Minimum of four (4) years of experience in cybersecurity analysis and support.
  • Fully qualified in accordance with DoD 8570.01M.
  • Demonstrated expertise in mission-critical cybersecurity systems, policies, and processes.

Preferred Attributes:

  • Experience supporting Navy or DoD missions with classified or sensitive environments.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, for reporting and documentation.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced, high-stakes environment.
