Position Overview: MILVETS is seeking a motivated Entry-Level Network Specialist to join our team supporting the Distributed Mission Operations Center (DMOC).  The Network Specialist will assist in the design, implementation, and maintenance of robust network communications systems that support DMOC events and exercises and ensure that the DMOC battlespace internal network remains in a persistent, ready state.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist with the design and planning of network communication systems to support simulation and training events
  • Contribute to the development of detailed specifications and schematics for network architecture
  • Support hardware and software selection processes, focusing on efficient, scalable, and secure solutions
  • Conduct basic testing and validation of network designs under the guidance of senior engineers
  • Help maintain technical expertise in network and computing hardware/software interconnection, including routers, switches, firewalls, gateways, and other components
  • Monitor network health and help identify issues or performance bottlenecks
  • Stay up to date with emerging communications technologies and report findings to the team
  • Ensure the DMOC network infrastructure supports real-time training and mission readiness

Minimum Qualifications:

  • 0–2 years of professional experience in IT or networking
  • Associate or Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Network Engineering, or related field
  • Active DoD Secret clearance; must be eligible for a Top-Secret clearance with SCI and SAP/SAR eligibility within one year
  • Assurance Technician (IAT) Level II or III certification IAW DoD 8570.01-M, such as CompTIA Security+ certification.
  • Basic understanding of networking principles, including TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, subnets, and routing
  • Experience with networking equipment (e.g., routers, switches, firewalls)

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Familiarity with DoD network environments or military simulation systems
  • Understanding of cybersecurity concepts and how they apply to network design
  • Experience with or exposure to network diagramming tools and network monitoring platforms

Clearance:

  • Applicants selected will be subject to a security investigation and may need to meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information; an Active United States Department of Defense Secret clearance is required
