Position Title:  RCDD Inside Outside Plant - Project Manager

Certifications:  MUST HAVE Registered Communication Distribution Designer (RCDD) certified by Building Industry Consulting Services International.


Location: Columbia, SC Veterans Administration

Full Time: On Site in Columbia, SC Highly Preferred.   Hybrid: 50% on-site 50% remote may be considered (Note: Must be within a reasonable commuting distance from Columbia, SC, or willing to relocate to Columbia, SC)

Position Summary: MILVETS is currently seeking a full-time, experienced Project Manager who will be responsible for supporting Columbia, SC Veterans Administration EHRM Cabling with Over 15years’ experience managing large scale complex information technology cabling projects (Layer 1).

Functional Responsibilities: Responsible for all aspects of large-scale cabling and infrastructure projects from start to finish.  Performing “take offs” developing project plans, hiring, and developing the project team, ensuring project milestones are met on time and in budget.

Minimum Education: Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering or information technology, or 10 years of progressive experience in inside or outside plant cable infrastructure.

Responsibilities:
  • Excellent customer service skills and the ability to communicate effectively with non-technical users are critical to success in this position, along with strong documentation skills, attention to detail and the ability to learn quickly and retain information are required.
  • Responsible for leading cable infrastructure team to ensure that customer technology needs are satisfied through building, managing, and coordinating the overall program/project plan, budget, project organizational structure, schedule, and customer relationship requirement both Inside Plant and Outside Plant cabling. This includes management of personnel, subcontractors, and vendors. Integrates all functions and activities necessary to perform the project to meet customer requirements and expectations, delivered in accordance with the customer's policies and procedures and the project Statement of Work.
  • The position will include independent project planning, tracking and control as well as reporting company leadership. The person must be able to provide assessment of project issues and develop solutions to those issues to meet productivity, quality, and client satisfaction goals and objectives.
  • Must be familiar with ANSI/TIA standards, Fluke Testers, and Master Construction Specifications. (Design-Build construction projects.)
  • Perform Site Survey Layer-1 Designs - for all pathways and support systems, including Multi floor pathways and penetrations for Fiber Optical Cable / Copper Backbones for very large buildings up to 1,000,000 sq ft.
  • Perform QA Inspections of the wiring installations during final site inspections.
  • Ensure compliance of manufacturer, industry, NEC, and customer design standards.
  • Identify, document, and report all issues and errors to company leadership.
  • Design outside plant cabling pathways including wall and/or floor conduit penetrations.
  • Work with the customer and prime contractor on the Fiber and Copper to be installed, terminated, tested, and how the test results will be delivered.
  • Lead engineers, designers, construction managers, and customers through the OSP (Outside Plant) phases of telecommunications construction projects.
  • Creates the design, bill-of-material, project costs, drawings, documentation, and configuration specifications for OSP Facility implementation.
  • Creates As-Built drawings for completed infrastructure projects.
Certifications:   Registered Communication Distribution Designer (RCDD) certified by Building Industry Consulting Services International.
