Unfortunately, the hiring process at many companies feels like a black hole. You apply, wait for weeks, and never hear back—and you're left wondering why you even applied in the first place. The lack of communication reinforces self-doubt. Applying for a new role takes courage, and it's hard to muster that courage when—more often than not—your only reward is silence.

Our hiring process is different at MILVETS. We want you to know that when you apply for a role, we will review your resume and application, and you are going to hear back from us, even if we don't seem like a good fit. In fact, throughout the process we strive to make sure you never go more than seven days without hearing from us.

To be completely transparent, here's what happens when you apply for a position at MILVETS.

Applying:

When you apply for a role at MILVETS, the application goes into our application tracking software. Here, a hiring team of two to four people—people you will work closely with if you are hired for this role—will review your application.

Evaluation:

The application is then evaluated by our recruiting team based on evidence that demonstrates you have the relevant skills for the job. We also evaluate each applicant's writing and communication skills, along with their knowledge of MILVETS as a company. We realize that no candidate is flawless, so we look for candidates who excel in one or two skills, and then build teams around these people to supplement where teammates aren't as strong.

Job Fit Interview:

Once we have reviewed the initial batch of applicants, the top five to ten applicants will have a conversation about the role with the recruiting team. Here you'll be asked questions that dig into your relevant experience for this role, and you'll have a chance to evaluate whether or not MILVETS matches up with the values you want to have in an employer. If you don't make it to this step, you'll hear back from us letting you know we're passing over your application for this role.

Skills Interview:

After talking with the recruiting team, you'll go through a skills interview with the hiring manager. This is a practical evaluation to see if you have the relevant skills to succeed in the role. You won't be evaluated on skills that don't matter. If you don't make it to this step, you'll hear back from us letting you know we're passing over your application for this role. For some positions, we'll also evaluate relevant skills by administering a short exercise done outside of the interview.

Final Decision:

After the skills interview, we evaluate each candidate who made it to the skills interview, and the hiring team makes a decision. If multiple candidates meet our hiring bar, we'll select the best candidate and ask for references. If no candidates meet the hiring bar, we then solicit more candidates and repeat at step two.

Reference Checks:

During the reference check, we reach out to the references you provided to get a better idea of what it's like to work with you. Lastly, we promise that we will never reach out to your existing employer without your permission.

Offer:

Once references are complete, we'll make an offer to you including details about salary, benefits and other relevant compensation details. Hopefully you'll accept the offer and we can start working out a start date and onboarding plan.

At each point in this process, we promise not to go silent on you. We strive to never go more than seven days without letting you know the status of your application.

MILVETS Systems Technology, Inc. is seeking a mission-driven Joint Terminal Attack Controller (JTAC) or Air Liaison Officer (ALO) for Air Combat Command’s Combat Air Forces Distributed Training Center (CAF DTC) at Langley AFB, VA. Daily, the CAF DTC provides world-class integration training in large force and small team formats to combat units around the globe against cutting-edge threats in a boundless virtual battle space.

Responsibilities:

Facilitate integration training for U.S. and allied military aircrew, air battle managers, and Joint Terminal Attack Controllers (JTACs) by planning, briefing, executing and debriefing Distributed Mission Operations (DMO) events.

Role-play various elements of the fight: JTAC, Joint Fires Observer (JFO), battalion or brigade ground force commander, fire direction center (FDC), Air Support Operations Center (ASOC), rotary-wing, or fixed-wing CAS assets.

Learn and execute missions using Next Generation Threat System (NGTS) and Modern Air Combat Environment (MACE). Stay current on threats, tactics, techniques, and procedures by reviewing tactics manuals, flash bulletins and tactics bulletins.

Support daily training by scheduling, mission planning, creating mission materials, briefing, executing, and debriefing the DTC’s Large Force Exercises (LFEs) and Small Team events.

Attend CAF exercise planning conferences (e.g. RED FLAG), meetings, and sites to discuss unit training requirements. Assist the DTC incorporate those unit training requirements into missions.

Additional duties may include:

Providing consulting expertise to military and/or defense clients to develop and evaluate military training and doctrine.

Providing specialized planning and/or execution expertise in specialized phases of military training exercises--including doctrinal development, scenario development, after action review and data analysis.

 Basic Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree with 9 years’ experience; master’s degree with 7 years’ experience; PhD with 4 years’ experience

Current or previously qualified (certified) Joint Terminal Attack Controller (JTAC)

Thorough knowledge of Joint Publication 3-09.3, MTTP-JFIRE, AFTTP 3-1.JTAC, AFTTP 3-3.JTAC, or other equivalent service manual

Operationally relevant experience within the past 10 years (simulator experience considered)

Secret Clearance with ability to obtain to TS/SCI and SAP/SAR

Preferred Qualifications:

JTAC-Instructor (JTAC-I)

USAF Weapons School or USMC Weapons and Tactics Instructor (WTI) Course graduate

Joint Operational Fires and Effects Course graduate

Possess an active DoD Top Secret security clearance
