Overview: MILVETS is currently seeking a full-time, experienced, NetApp Administrator with 10–15 years' experience to provide storage engineering and administration support for Naval Shipyard IT systems in a mission-critical defense environment. The ideal candidate will bring deep expertise in NetApp ONTAP storage systems, a strong understanding of SAN/NAS architectures, and hands-on experience supporting highly secure Department of Defense (DoD) environments.

Key Responsibilities
- Administer and maintain NetApp ONTAP storage systems to ensure secure, efficient, and reliable operations in mission-critical environments.
- Configure, monitor, and troubleshoot NetApp clusters, CIFS/NFS shares, SnapMirror/SnapVault replication, and storage provisioning.
- Perform lifecycle management, including firmware/patch upgrades, capacity planning, and performance tuning of storage systems.
- Develop, maintain, and execute Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), backup/disaster recovery strategies, and configuration baselines.
- Ensure compliance with DoD STIGs, DISA SRGs, RMF/NIST 800-53, and other federal security standards for storage environments.
- Apply and maintain encryption, access controls, and secure multi-tenancy in classified IT environments.
- Collaborate with system administrators, cybersecurity, and network engineering teams to support seamless system integration.
- Automate repetitive storage administration tasks using PowerShell, Python, or NetApp ONTAP CLI.
- Maintain detailed documentation for change management, incident resolution, and security audits.
- Provide mentorship, training, and knowledge transfer to junior administrators or IT support staff.
Technical Expertise
- Proven experience administering NetApp ONTAP storage systems in large-scale, mission-critical DoD or enterprise environments.
- Proficiency with CIFS/NFS shares, SnapMirror, SnapVault, SAN/NAS, and storage provisioning.
- Strong knowledge of iSCSI, Fibre Channel, and storage networking protocols.
- Integration of NetApp systems with VMware, Hyper-V, and enterprise backup solutions.
- Hands-on expertise in performance tuning, monitoring tools, and lifecycle management of storage infrastructure.
- Experience with automation using PowerShell, Python, and/or ONTAP CLI.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or related field (or equivalent work experience).
- Minimum 5+ years of hands-on NetApp administration in enterprise or defense environments.
- Knowledge of DoD cybersecurity standards, including STIGs, SRGs, RMF/NIST 800-53, and FedRAMP.
- Experience applying and maintaining firmware, security patches, and audit compliance requirements for storage systems.
- Active DoD 8570 IAT Level II or III certification (e.g., Security+, CISSP, CASP+).
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to resolve complex technical issues in time-sensitive situations.
- Excellent communication and documentation skills, with the ability to collaborate across technical teams.
Preferred Attributes
- Prior support of Naval Shipyard IT systems or U.S. Navy networks (NMCI, ONE-Net, RDT&E, or equivalent DoD programs).
- Familiarity with DoD/Navy ticketing systems (Remedy, ServiceNow, or equivalent).
- NetApp Certified Data Administrator (NCDA) or higher certification.
- Active DoD Secret or Top-Secret security clearance (SCI/SAP highly desired).
- Demonstrated ability to thrive in 24/7 operational environments with minimal downtime.
- Proven record of mentorship, knowledge-sharing, and cross-team collaboration.
