Overview: MILVETS is currently seeking a full-time, experienced, Computer Network Support Specialist (Wireless)- with a Top-Secret Clearance, and deep expertise in Cisco enterprise networking to support Department of Defense (DoD) projects, on-site at NNSY, Portsmouth, VA.  The ideal candidate will bring at least seven (7) years of hands-on experience in designing, configuring, and installing enterprise wired and wireless networks, along with a strong background in network security, compliance, and advanced routing technologies.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design, implement, and manage complex enterprise wired and wireless network infrastructures supporting DoD missions.
  • Install, configure, troubleshoot, and monitor switches, routers, firewalls, Cisco and Aruba wireless access points, and related network appliances.
  • Apply and maintain DISA Security Technical Implementation Guides (STIGs) to ensure compliance with DoD cybersecurity standards.
  • Evaluate and respond to network incidents, conduct root cause analysis, and implement corrective actions.
  • Manage and enforce network security policies and protocols, utilizing tools such as Cisco ISE and SIEM platforms (e.g., Splunk).
  • Plan, design, and implement scalable LAN and WAN solutions, including support for software-defined network architectures.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional DoD and contractor teams to meet mission and project requirements.
  • Participate in and support approved change management and configuration control processes.

Technical Expertise:

  • Routing & Switching: Advanced knowledge of EIGRP, OSPF, BGP, VLANs, and enterprise switching technologies.
  • Software-Defined Networking (SDN): Experience with Cisco SD-Access and SD-WAN implementations.
  • Wireless Technologies & Hardware:
    • Cisco Wireless Access Points (9000 series)
    • Aruba Wireless Access Points (AP275, 375, 515)
  • Enterprise Network Hardware:
    • Cisco Nexus (7000/9000)
    • Cisco Catalyst Series
    • Cisco Routers (4551, 8500)
  • Software & Network Tools:
    • Cisco Wireless LAN Controller (WLC)
    • Aruba Wireless LAN Controller
    • Cisco Identity Services Engine (ISE)
    • Cisco Catalyst Center (DNA Center)
    • SolarWinds
    • Splunk
  • Security Compliance & Frameworks:
    • Apply DISA STIGs and NIST SP 800 Series
    • Support FISMA, DoDI 8500.01/8530, SECNAV 5239, OPNAV 5239, and OPNAVINST N9210.3

Required Qualifications:

  • Education & Experience:
    • Bachelor’s degree in IT, Cybersecurity, Computer Science, or a related field AND at least 4 years of relevant experience,
    • OR at least 7 years of relevant professional experience without a degree.
  • Cisco Networking Experience:
    • Minimum of 7 years of hands-on Cisco networking experience, including configuration, administration, and troubleshooting.
  • Certifications:
    • Cisco Certified Network Professional (CCNP)Enterprise Core or Wireless specialty required.
    • DoD 8570 IAT Level II compliant certification required (e.g., Security+ CE).
  • Clearance:
    • Active DoD Top Secret clearance required.

Preferred Attributes:

  • Experience supporting classified military or defense-related environments and programs.
  • Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills in high-availability, mission-critical systems.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills for working with cross-functional DoD and contractor teams.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, security-sensitive environment.
